The NBA Semi -finals are under way to determine who will face off in the NBA Finals and win the NBA Championship. There are some great teams in the hunt and four of them tip off tonight. In the Western Semi-finals the San Antonio Spurs host the Golden State Warriors in Game 1. The Spurs are favored by 9 points as they get the series started tonight. The Spurs eliminated the legendary LA Laker’s from the second round for the first time in 6 years. Now they face a Warriors team that eliminated the Denver Nuggets. The edge certainly has to go to the very experienced Spurs team.

The first round of the 2013 NFl Draft is in the books. It was the first draft in many years that was not highlighted by quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers in the first round. Offensive linemen are extremely valuable to the offense of a successful football team. They protect the quarterback and open holes for the running backs. The line is not a glamourous position to some, but these gladiators play their game fighting in the trenches. They deserve more respect than they are often given. Thursday Night respect was given to players who compete on both sides of the line.

In Monaco Novak Djokovic has done the unthinkable at the Monte Carlo Masters tennis tournament. He stopped a 46 match winning streak from the man who had been the defending champion for the last 8 years. Yesterday, he defeated Rafael Nadal 6-2, 7-6 in the same finals where Nadal had eliminated Djokovic last year.

The 2012-2013 NBA Season ended yesterday and soon the playoffs will begin. In the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division the New York Knicks finished 5 games in front of the Brooklyn Nets. The Knicks will be the 2nd seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. The Nets will be the 4th seed. In the Central Division the Indiana Pacers finished 4.5 games in front of the Chicago Bulls. The Pacers will be the 3rd seed and the the Bulls will be the 5th. In the Southeast Division the Miami Heat destroyed their division finishing 22 games in from of the Atlanta Hawks.

Last night, December 15, 2012, the #1 ranked NCAA Men's Basketball team was shocked in OT by the Butler Bulldogs and lost 88-86. The night was defined by a player normally resting in the shadows of such a successful organization. It was Alex Barlow who found the opportunity in the games waning moments and suck a 6 footer with only 2.4 seconds left on the clock. It was one of those magical moments that makes many sports games so memorable.

In London, England the ATP World Finals are winding down as Novak Djokovic knocked of Juan Martin del Potro in a semi-final match today by the score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Del Potro was riding hight after defeating Roger Federer. Later today Roger Federer will play in another semi-final match against Andy Murray. You may remember that these two faced off back at Wimbledon, which Federer came out victorious. Murray went on to win the US Open.
