The United States men’s soccer team will play Argentina at Giants Stadium in June 8th in the last friendly before the Soccer Betting 2010 World Cup qualifying begins.  The United States will also play against England in a May 28th friendly that will be televised live on ESPN Classic and Univision. The U.S. has played at Giants Stadium seven times in their history, holding a 4-1-2 record.  The last meeting between the United States and Argentina was in the 2007 Copa America and the Argentine team routed the U.S. team by a score of 4-1.

World Cup qualifying for the USA team begins on June 15th as they face Barbados at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. The second leg of the home-and-away series will be played either June 21 or 22 in Barbados.  The United States will have played six teams that have been ranked in the top 15 in the world, Argentina, Brazil, England, Mexico, Sweden and Spain before World Cup qualifying begins.

Pence is having an outstanding spring as well, leading a rebuilding Houston team with 23 hits and 13 RBI.

“He’s a special player. He’s a throw-back player,” new Astros manager Cecil Cooper told the Chronicle. “He’s an old-school player. He plays hard all the time. He’s a rare breed.”

Liverpool took out Inter Milan on Tuesday in the Soccer Betting Champions League, winning the second leg 1-0 and completing the sweep of the Italian team.  With their victory they join three other English teams in the Champions League quarterfinals. You expect three of the four English teams to be in the semifinals this year, unless they are drawn against each other (in the quarterfinals). Fenerbahce and Schlake were fortunate to advance this far and it would be a major surprise to see either reach the semifinals. “When all four English teams reach the last eight of the Champions League, it means our game is one of the best in the world,” Liverpool coach Rafa Benitez said, “It is the power of the Premier League and it shows that our top four teams are maybe the best in Europe. That much is clear and no one can say any different. There are so many really good players in all four sides. It would be great to see two English teams in the final.”
