The most interesting game on Wild Card weekend occurs on Saturday night as the San Diego Chargers host the Indianapolis Colts. Both teams are playing great football of late as the Colts have won their last nine games while the Chargers have won their last four. This is the second straight season the teams are meeting in the playoffs as last year the Chargers eliminated the Colts 28-24 at Indianapolis. SBG Global reports that early NFL playoff betting has the public taking Colts on the Road.

NFL Playoffs Schedule

Indianapolis Colts (12-4) at San Diego Chargers (8-8)
Saturday, 8:00 pm Eastern – NBC

AFC Wild Card Betting Lines: Colts - 1.5 , Total 51

The Chargers are very fortunate to be in the playoffs at all. No NFL team had ever made the playoffs after starting 4-8 but the Chargers won their final four games while the Denver Broncos collapsed, losing their last three. San Diego became the first team since 1985 to win a division with a .500 record.

Indianapolis is led by Peyton Manning who threw for over 4,000 yards again this season. In his last nine games he threw for 17 touchdowns and only three interceptions. In the last game against San Diego in November, Manning threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns. Adam Vinatieri hit the game winning field goal to win that game for the Colts.

The last three meetings between the two teams have been decided by a combined total of nine points. Here are more NFL betting stats for Saturday’s game. The Colts are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 playoff games. The Colts are 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 road games. The Colts are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings between the two teams but the road team is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings.

The Chargers are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 home games. The Chargers are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games.

AFC Wild Card Betting Lines: Colts - PK , Total 51

The Under is 4-0 in the Colts last 4 playoff road games. The Over is 5-2 in the Colts last 7 road games. The Under is 6-1 in the Chargers last 7 games in January. The Under is 4-1-1 in the Chargers last 6 home games. The Under is 4-1 in the Chargers last 5 playoff games.

NFL Playoffs starts this weekend and online sportsbook bring you a lot of NFL Online Betting options.

Former NFL MVP Kurt Warner and the Arizona Cardinals host rookie quarterback Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Wild Card game on Saturday. Warner finished second in the NFL in passing yards with 4,583, throwing for a franchise-record 30 touchdowns this season. His counterpart, Matt Ryan threw for 3,440 yards and 16 touchdowns in his rookie season and was named Offensive Rookie of the Year. Ryan got plenty of help this season as running back Michael Turner rushed for 1,699 yards and 17 touchdowns.
SBG Global reports that early NFL betting has the public taking Falcons on the Road.

NFL Playoff Schedule

Atlanta Falcons (11-5) at Arizona Cardinals (9-7)
Saturday, 4:30 pm Eastern – NBC

NFL Playoffs Betting Line: Falcons - 2.5 , Total 50.5

Arizona will look to throw the ball on Saturday while Atlanta may look to run it. The Cardinals had three receivers go over 1,000 yards this season, Larry Fitzgerald (1,431), Anquan Boldin (1,038) and Steve Breaston (1,006). It was only the fifth time in NFL history a trio of teammates all went over the 1,000 yard mark.

Arizona was 6-2 at home this season. It is the first home playoff game for the Cardinals since they were in Chicago back in 1947. Atlanta is 1-5 all-time at Arizona. Here are more NFL betting stats for Saturday’s game. The Falcons are 13-5 ATS in their last 18 games on grass. The Falcons are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between the two teams.

The Cardinals are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games. The Cardinals are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games as an underdog.

The Over is 5-0 in the Falcons last 5 Saturday games. The Under is 6-0 in the Falcons last 6 games as a road favorite. The Under is 37-14-1 in the Falcons last 52 road games. The Under is 9-4 in the Falcons last 13 games as a favorite.

NFL Playoffs Betting Lines: Falcons - 2 , Total 51

The Over is 9-1 in the Cardinals last 10 home games. The Over is 21-7 in the Cardinals last 28 games on grass. The Over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Arizona between the two teams.

Alabama was just a quarter away from playing in the BCS Title game but blew a 20-17 to Florida, losing the SEC Championship game last month 31-20. Now Alabama must get motivated to play an unbeaten Utah team in the Sugar Bowl on Friday. Alabama has had a lot of success in the Sugar Bowl, going 8-4 all-time. The Crimson Tide has 31 bowl victories in their history and that leads the country. SBG Global reports that early College Football betting has the public taking Alabama at Home.

Utah has also been very good in bowl games going 10-3 including wins in their last six. They won the 2005 Fiesta Bowl against Pittsburgh that completed an unbeaten season. The Utes have been even better this season, ranking 6th in the College Football betting BCS standings.

NCAA Sugar Bowl Schedule

Utah (12-0) vs. Alabama (12-1)
Friday, 8:15 pm Eastern – FOX

Sugar Bowl betting lines: Alabama - 10 , Total 44.5

Utah has the nation’s longest winning streak at 13 games but they are big betting underdogs against what is considered a superior Alabama team. The Crimson Tide averaged 31.2 points and 196.5 rushing yards per game this season but those numbers are likely to drop considering they will be missing left tackle, Andre Smith who is an All-American. Smith was suspended for violating team rules and will miss the game. His absence could be a problem considering running back Glen Coffee and quarterback John Parker Wilson need help to make plays. If Wilson gets time to throw he usually finds freshman Julio Jones who had 51 catches, 847 yards and four TDs thi season.

Sugar Bowl betting lines: Alabama - 9.5 , Total 44.5

Friday’s game could be a defensive struggle considering the Tide ranked third in the country, allowing 256.9 yards per game. Utah’s offense was 15th in the country in scoring at 37.4 points per game but they haven’t played a defense like Alabama’s. Utah’s defense was not that far behind Alabama’s, ranking 12th in the country in scoring defense at 17.3 points per game.

Utah and Alabama have never met in their history. Utah is 0-6 all-time against SEC teams.

It is time for outdoor NHL hockey again on Thursday, this time from historic Wrigley Field in Chicago as the Blackhawks play the Detroit Red Wings. The NHL has tried this outdoor experiment twice in the past and the ratings and the interest has been excellent. The first game was played in Edmonton back in 2003 when over 51,000 fans saw the Oilers play the Montreal Canadiens. The other matchup was last year in Buffalo at Ralph Wilson Stadium as Sidney Crosby scored in overtime to give the Penguins the win over the Sabres. An NHL-record crowd of 71,217 was on hand for the game played in the snow. It was the highest rated regular season game in the U.S. since 1996.

Detroit Red Wings (24-7-5) at Chicago Blackhawks (20-7-7) *Wrigley Field*
Thursday, 1:05 pm Eastern – NBC

The Hockey betting Winter Classic is likely to continue in the future as the NHL has purchased advanced ice-making systems and a number of cities have expressed an interest in hosting the game. Detroit, Boston, New York, Toronto and Montreal have all shown an interest.

Thursday’s game between the Blackhawks and Red Wings will mark the 701st meeting between the teams. It is the back end of a home and home series between the two teams. Detroit routed Chicago 4-0 at home on Tuesday. Goaltender Ty Conklin got the shutout and he will get the start on Thursday. Coincidently, Conklin was in goal in the previous two outdoor games. He was with the Oilers in 2003 and with the Penguins last year.
“I think it’s going to be a lot of fun. Both team realize the importance of it,” Conklin said. “It’s more than a run of the mill regular-season game.”

Here are the Hockey betting stats for Thursday’s game. The Red Wings are 38-16 in their last 54 overall. The Red Wings are 1-5 in their last 6 road games. The Red Wings are 9-4 in the last 13 meetings in Chicago

The Blackhawks are 9-1 in their last 10 overall. The Blackhawks are 16-5 in their last 21 home games. The Blackhawks are 12-26 in their last 38 Thursday games. The Blackhawks are 2-7 in their last 9 vs. the Central.

The Under is 4-0-1 in the Blackhawks last 5 overall. The Over is 8-3-1 in the Blackhawks last 12 home games. The Over is 5-2 in the Blackhawks last 7 vs. the Central.

Two Top 25 teams with potent offenses get together on Monday as 22nd ranked Northwestern faces 25th ranked Missouri. Northwestern (9-4) vs. Missouri (9-3) Monday, 8:00 pm Eastern – ESPN. The Tigers had what could be considered a disappointing season considering they expected to be playing in a BCS bowl game this season. Quarterback Chase Daniel and receiver Jeremy Maclin had good years but the Tigers defense was a sieve, giving up a ton of points. Missouri was ranked as high as #3 this season but lost four of their last eight games including the Big 12 title game to Oklahoma. “It’s going to sting for a while and why wouldn’t it?” Daniel said, “But we can finish off in style. When was the last time a Missouri team won 10 games back-to-back in history? Never. We still have a chance to make history.”

SBG Global College Football betting has the public taking Missouri at Home.

Northwestern enters the bowl game with a much better frame of mind. Nothing was expected of the Wildcats but they surprised everyone to finish 9-3, including winning their finale against Illinois 27-10. “To be at nine wins right now with an opportunity for number ten, the opportunity to achieve our main goal this year - to win a bowl game - is all right here in front of us,” said head coach Pat Fitzgerald. Northwestern has not won a bowl game since 1949. “I think, if anything, (the bowl drought) will provide a little extra motivation,” senior quarterback C.J. Bacher said. “At the beginning of the year we set out to win a bowl game and we’ve put ourselves in a position to do that.”

SBG Global Current Line: Missouri - 12.5, Total 66.5

Northwestern and Missouri are playing for the first time since 1987. The all-time series is tied at 4-4. Here are more College Football betting stats for Monday’s game. The Wildcats are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 non-conference games.

Miami Dolphins (10-5) at New York Jets (9-6) Sunday, 4:15 pm Eastern – CBS

The Miami Dolphins and Chad Pennington are one victory away from winning the AFC East and it is only fitting that the game would be in New York against Pennington’s old team the New York Jets and against the quarterback who replaced him, Brett Favre. SBG Global reports that early NFL online betting odds has the public taking Jets at Home.

If the Dolphins get a victory they can will win the AFC East just a year after going 1-15. It has been an unbelievable turnaround under vice president Bill Parcells and head coach Tony Sparano. Leading the way for the Dolphins has been Pennington who was cast aside by the Jets for Favre. That decision doesn’t look very good now since Pennington’s Dolphins can clinch the division with a win while Favre’s Jets have collapsed and now need help to make the playoffs.

The Jets can still make the playoffs but they need to beat the Dolphins and have Buffalo upset New England. They could also make the playoffs as a Wild Card if they win and Baltimore loses at home against Jacksonville.

New York won the first matchup between the two teams 20-14 but Pennington nearly led the Dolphins to the game winning touchdown in the final seconds.

This Saturday, December 27th at 4:30, you could watch on ESPN the Champs Sports Bowl, Wisconsin (7-5) vs. Florida State (8-4). We are bringing our NCAA Football betting preview for this bowl.

SBG Global Opening Line: Florida State - 5 , Total 52.5

Two teams that had disappointing seasons meet on Saturday in the Champs Sports Bowl as Wisconsin takes on Florida State. The Seminoles have really struggled on offense lately and it has cost them, as they lost three of their last five games. Quarterback Christian Ponder did not have a good season throwing 13 interceptions for a Florida State offense that struggled to score points. The good news for the Seminoles in this game is that they are playing in Orlando so they may have a home field edge. SBG Global reports that early College Football betting has the public taking Florida State at Home.

The Badgers are going to their fifth straight Florida bowl game but this is not the one they wanted to be in. The Badgers were ranked as high as #9 in the polls before losing five of six. Wisconsin also had a lot of trouble throwing the ball this season as quarterbacks Allan Evridge and Dustin Sherer did not play well. The Badgers do have running back P.J. Hill though. He had 1,024 yards and 13 touchdowns this season for a Wisconsin running game that was 14th best in the country. He should get tested by a Florida State defense that was 34th against the run.

Wisconsin has lost three of their last five bowl games including last year to Tennessee in the Outback Bowl. Wisconsin and Florida State have never met in their history. Here are the College Football betting stats for Saturday’s game. The Badgers are 13-4 ATS in their last 17 non-conference games. The Badgers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 bowl games as an underdog.

The Seminoles are 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games. The Seminoles are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game.

SBG Global Current Line: Florida State - 5.5 , Total 52.5

The Under is 4-1 in the Badgers last 5 Bowl games. The Under is 10-4 in the Badgers last 14 non-conference games.

The Over is 4-0 in the Seminoles last 4 Bowl games. The Over is 9-4 in the Seminoles last 13 vs. a team with a winning record.

NFC - The New York Giants return to the scene of their greatest triumph this decade – University of Phoenix Stadium, where they will play the Arizona Cardinals today. Ten months ago, the Giants won the Super Bowl with a shocking 17-14 triumph over New England in that building. “I think it’ll be neat going back,” Giants QB Eli Manning said. “But I think it will be a different feel this time just because we are going to be in Arizona’s stadium. We are going to be the away team. It should be a different crowd, a different feel. It’s a new season.” …

Two players who won’t be returning to Phoenix with the Giants are Pro Bowl ends Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora. Strahan retired after the Super Bowl and Umenyiora suffered a season-ending knee injury in training camp. Not that it matters. The Giants still have one of the NFL’s best pass rushes, ranking fourth in the league with 31 sacks. “It’s pretty amazing to lose those two guys and still have the kind of pass rush and cause the type of disruption those guys do,” Cardinals QB Kurt Warner said. “They’re all over the place. It’s a credit to the young guys who have come in and established themselves. It doesn’t look like a whole lot has changed.” …

When the Philadelphia Eagles lost to the Giants two weekends ago, there were public rumblings that it was time for coach Andy Reid and quarterback Donovan McNabb to go. When the Eagles tied lowly Cincinnati last weekend, those rumblings became a public outcry. “I’ll be honest and say it’s kind of hard not to listen to it or hear it, especially here in Philadelphia,” said McNabb, who is 78-43-1 as starting quarterback of the Eagles. “But …

I don’t think either one of us pays attention to it, and it never affects what we try to do here. We’ve both been a part of this for 10 years. It hasn’t been roses, so to speak, throughout our 10 years here. So the way I’ve handled it is to have thick skin, stay focused on your goal, continue to work hard and make sure the guys here in this building understand that none of that negativity will affect what you do, your game plan and your work ethic.” …

Rod Marinelli won a Super Bowl ring as defensive line coach at Tampa Bay – success that earned him a shot as head coach of the Detroit Lions. The Bucs visit the Lions today, and Marinelli can’t wait to see them. Not just because he knows a lot of the players and coaches still in Tampa. The Bucs are one of the few teams Marinelli can beat. Marinelli is 10-31 with the Lions – and the wins include a 23-16 victory over the Bucs a year ago at Ford Field. The Lions are 0-10 this season. “Because of free agency, every week you’re probably facing someone that was either a team or a coach of yours,” Bucs linebacker Derrick Brooks said. “So it will be fun – and no different than every other week. You just go out there and do your best to make sure that you prepare yourself to win.”

AFC - The two New York teams are featured in the two best matchups of the weekend. The NFC East-leading Giants visit the NFC West-leading Arizona Cardinals, and the AFC East-leading Jets visit the AFC South-leading Tennessee Titans. The Jets will attempt what 10 other teams have failed to do this season – hand the Titans their first loss. Brett Favre stands in the way of Tennessee perfection this week. But the Titans have not had any problems with Favre lately. He is 0-2 vs. the Titans this decade, having completed barely 54 percent of his passes with four interceptions. “I think of all the quarterbacks who have played this game, he has the shortest memory,” Titans coach Jeff Fisher said. “He bounces back, especially when you get into plus territories. There are tight windows and he tries to fit them in. Sometimes he doesn’t – but he comes right back and ends up doing it. He bounces right back. He overcomes these things. He’s done that all year.”

The Jets aren’t the only AFC East team facing a stiff challenge. Miami and New England both take 6-4 records into their rematch today. The Dolphins shocked the Patriots, 38-13, in New England in the third weekend of the season, unveiling the “Wildcat” formation with direct snaps to halfback Ronnie Brown. He rushed for 113 yards and four touchdowns that day and threw for a fifth score on an option pass. It’s safe to assume the Patriots will be better prepared for the Wildcat formation this time around. “Probably the toughest thing is tackling the guy who’s got the ball,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. “They all run well. They break tackles, they make people miss in the open field, they’re fast, they’re quick and they have good balance. All three of those guys [Brown, Ricky Williams and Patrick Cobbs ] are tough to tackle.” …

It’s also a crucial week for the fourth team in the AFC East. The Buffalo Bills once sat atop the division with a 5-1 record. Thanks to a four-game losing streak, the Bills now reside at the bottom of the pack at 5-5. Buffalo has a chance to get back on the winning track today against the 1-9 Kansas City Chiefs. The Bills need to start winning soon. They are running out of time on the season. “We deserve to be where we are because we haven’t played well enough to win in the recent past,” Bills coach Dick Jauron said. “But we also deserve to be where we are because we definitely played well enough to win early. Without those early wins, we wouldn’t be sitting here at 5-5, thinking about the next game and playing for an opportunity.” …

The 6-4 Denver Broncos are rolling with a two-game road winning streak and a two-game lead over San Diego in the AFC West. But Denver has suffered two home losses already, which is out of character for the Broncos. Denver is home today against the 2-8 Raiders. This one is money in the bank for the Broncos. Since the Raiders fired him as their head coach in 1989, Mike Shanahan has posted a 20-6 record against Oakland as coach of the Broncos.
