The NBA season is over and the NFL season is on the horizon but the 2010 Major League Baseball season still has around 70 regular season games to play. A few weeks ago the National League won their first All Star game in 13 years against the American League. As sweet as that victory must have been; teams are now focused on one thing; the race for their pennant flags.

As of July 21st the New York Yankees are leading the American League East by 2.5 games with a record of 58-34, which just happens to be the best record in baseball right now. Obviously, this race is not over but the Yankees show no signs of collapse.

In the American League Central the Chicago White Sox lead the Detroit Tigers by 3.5 games with a 52-41 record. The Tigers are hot on the heels of the White Sox and they won’t allow the White Sox any room for error.

The Texas Rangers lead the American League West by 5 games over the Los Angeles Angels with a 55-39 record. The Rangers look strong and should only build on this lead for the rest of the season.

In the National League East Atlanta is on fire again and lead those less than amazing New York Mets by 6.5 games and hold a record of 55-38. The phenomenal Philadelphia Phillies are in a lonesome third and the Braves are having their way.

The closest pennant race in baseball resides in the National League Central where the St Louis Cardinals lead the Cincinnati Reds by only a half game. The Cardinals are 53-41, while the Reds are 53-42. The Brewers are over 10 games back and fading fast.

In the National League West the San Diego Padres are in front of the San Francisco Giants by 3 games and hold a record of 54-38. The Giants and the Rockies are certainly still in the hunt for this pennant and this one should come down to the wire. There is plenty of excitement left for Major League Baseball Fans and that is something you can bet on. Until we meet again; may your betting be better and remember to always be a good sport.

The Major League Baseball season is rolling right along. When the baseball season begins the NBA season is just winding down. Here is is mid May and the NBA is still in the semi finals. When the baseball season begins to wind down the NFL season will be getting into full swing. The Major League baseball season from start to end covers almost a 7 month period. The season is long and grinding but today’s players have it a lot easier than the great stars that proceeded them.

Before I let you know how this season is going; I want to ponder about where baseball has been and compare it to where it is today. Did you know that the average salary for a major league player was only $30,000 in 1970. When the reserve clause was removed in 1975 players were able to negotiate better contracts and the baseball world would never be the same. Today, the average is 3.3 million dollars.

The Tampa Bay Rays have the best record in baseball at 30-12. They have won 8 of their last 10 games and lead the New York Yankee’s by by 4 games in the American League East. In the American League Central the Minnesota Twins have a 25-17 record and lead the Detroit Tigers by only 1 game. The Twins have dropped 6 of their last 10 and the Tigers are making a move. The Texas Rangers lead the American League West with a 25-18 record and lead the Oakland A’s by 4 games. The Rangers have won 7 of their last 10 games.

In the National League East the Philadelphia Phillies are 26-15 and lead the Atlanta Braves by 4.5 games. The Phillies have been victorious 7 times in their last 10 outings. The St. Louis Cardinals are 25-18 and lead the National League Central by only a half game over the Cincinnati Reds. The Cards have dropped 5 of their last 10 and the Reds are breathing down their necks. In the National League West the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres are tied at 24-18. The Dodgers have won 9 of their last 10 but this race is neck in neck.

The Major League Baseball season still has around 120 games to go. Obviously, many things will change between now and then. You can bet on that. Until we meet again; may your betting be better and remember to always be a good sport.

The first month of Major League Baseball is drawing to a close. Let’s take a look at the teams that ruled the month of April starting with the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays are 17-5 and lead the New York Yankees by 2.5 games. They have won 8 of their last 10 games. That is not a bad start by any standards.

Click Here Now! Bet now at SBGGlobal.com!

The St. Louis Cardinals are 15-7 and lead the Cincinnati Reds by 4 games. The Cardinals are flying high and have won 7 of their last 10. The San Diego Padres are 14-8 but have won 8 of their last 10 games. They lead the San Francisco Giants by 1.5 games.

Click Here Now! Bet now at SBGGlobal.com!

The Minnesota Twins are also 14-8 and lead the Detroit Tigers by 1.5 games. The Twins have stumbled in their last 10 games only winning 5. The New York Mets are 13-9 and they lead the Philadelphia Phillies by only a half a game but they have won 9 of their last 10 to get there.

Click Here Now! Bet now at SBGGlobal.com!

Honorable mention goes to the Boston Red Sox. Even though their record is a dismal 11-11, which places them 3rd behind the Yankees and the Rays; they have won 7 of their last 10. You can bet your bottom dollar that a few teams will leave April behind them with a bang tonight. Unit we meet again; may your betting be better and remember to always be a good sport.

A great pitching matchup begins the World Series on Wednesday night as the New York Yankees host the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 1. It will be Cliff Lee going for the Phillies while CC Sabathia takes the mound for the Yankees. These former teammates have pitched extremely well during the postseason and each could get three starts in this series if it goes seven games.

The Yankees are a -163 favorite with a total of 7.5 at SBG Global.

Unlike past World Series matchups this one has everything. Each team has a premier ace pitcher, both teams have MVP sluggers and both teams can hit home runs. The teams met earlier this season for a series at Yankee Stadium and the Phillies took two of three.

The Phillies are trying to become the first team to repeat as World Series champs since the 1998-2000 Yankees, and the first team to do it in the National League since the 1975-76 Cincinnati Reds. The Yankees are well aware that it won’t be easy against the defending champs. “They’re the defending champs. They’re playing extremely well,” manager Joe Girardi said. “We know they’re an extremely tough opponent.”

The Yankees had the most wins in baseball betting this season and had little trouble getting past Minnesota and the Angels in the first two rounds of the playoffs. Alex Rodriguez has been superb in the postseason and Sabathia has been almost unhittable. On the other side, the Phillies got amazing pitching from Cliff Lee while Ryan Howard had 14 RBIs in nine games against Colorado and the Dodgers this postseason.

Wednesday’s game should be a great duel as Lee is 2-0 in three starts this postseason with a 0.74 ERA. Sabathia is 3-0 this postseason with a 1.19 ERA. The only thing that might prevent a pitcher’s duel is their career numbers. Sabathia is 1-2 with a 5.55 ERA in four career starts against the Phillies while Lee is 4-4 with a 5.02 ERA in nine career starts against New York. More on MLB Baseball Betting!

The Phillies are 8-3 in their last 11 games as a road underdog. The Phillies are 6-2 in Lee’s last 8 road starts. The Yankees are 41-10 in their last 51 home games. The Yankees are 10-1 in Sabathia’s last 11 starts as a home favorite.

The Phillies were not very good house guests last night when they stunned the New York Yankees at home 6-1. Phillies pitching ace Cliff Lee looked like he could have pitched 27 innings without breaking a sweat and the Yankees modern day murders row turned out to be quite harmless. In game 2 the Yankees will try to get back on track with A.J. Burnett while the Phillies rely on Yankee nemisis Pedro Martinez. This should be a barn burner. The reigning world champion Phillies are off to a great start. The Yankees will have to overcome the Philadelphia pitching if they want to win it all for the 27th time.

The Denver Broncos have to be reciting the famous phrase by commedian Rodney Dangerfield ” I get no respect I tell Ya, No respect”. Denver travels to Baltimore for a major NFL matchup. The Broncos are 6-0 this season and the Ravens are a dismal 3-3 and hardly living up to their expectations and yet the Ravens are still favored by 3. This means that Denver has yet to convince anyone they are for real. This game is going to be hard fought but I am afraid Denvers luck is about to run out. My pick: Baltimore 20-13

The New York Giants take a little trip down to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles. The Giants are 5-2 while the Eagles are 4-2. This one will depend a lot on which teams show up. Both have looked very good and then very bad. It is going to come down to who wants it more. The Giants are favored by 1. This one will be decided in the trenches. I like the Giants 17-14

Monday night the Atlanta Falcons journey to New Orleans to take on the 6-0 Saints. The Falcons are 4-2 and on paper you might think this will be a fair matchup. The Saints are favored by 10 but have the capability of blowing this one out. I like the Saints 35-21

I saved the best for last. Brett Farve and the Minnesota Vikings slide over to Green Bay at frigid Lambeau field to take on da Packers. There is going to be a rumble in cheese town. Farve is going home to Green Bay but it is not to a ticker tape parade. Fresh off of their defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers last sunday the 6-1 Vikings need this victory against their division foes the 4-2 Packers. The Vikings are still the real deal. The Packers are getting there. The Pack is favored by 3 but I like the Vikings 24-20

I also like the Texans over Buffalo, the Bears over the Browns, the Cowboys over the Seahawks, the Rams over the Lions, the Colts over the 49ers, the Dolphins over the Jets, the Chargers over the Raiders, the Jags over the Titans and the Cardinals over the Panthers. Until we meet again may your betting be better and remember to always be a good sport.

The 2009 World Series is set. Last years World Champion Philadelphia Phillies will take on perhaps the most honored baseball franchise of all time in the New York Yankees.

Philadelphia would no doubt like to win their second Championship in a row. The Yankees of course will have other ideas. The Yankee Dynasty is stuff of legend. The Yankees made it to the World Series the for the first time in 1921. They lost to the New York Giants. They lost to them again in 1922. In 1923 however the trend changed and the Yankees won their first World Series over the Giants 4 games to 2 and as they say in the books the rest is history.

The Yankees participated in their first World Series about 88 years ago. This year they are participating in their 40th bid for a World Championship. They are 26-13 in their first 39 appearances. As they seek their 27th World Championship against the hungry Phillies it is difficult for them not to reflect on history.

Legendary baseball royalty has adorned the Yankee pin stripes with pride from Babe Ruth to Mickey Mantle. Today it is Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez. The immortal Yankees ghosts of World Series past will inevitably infiltrate the new 1.5 billion dollar stadium to cheer their descendants in spirit.

The Yankees won their last World Series Championship in 2000. They made it back in 2001 and 2003 only to suffer defeat. Over the last 5 years the organization has invested over a billion dollars into recreating the legend. It appears that their money was well spent. The Yankees are -190 on the money line to win their 27th Championship.

It is going to be a hard fought series for sure. If the bats stay hot for the Yankees and the pitching remains strong from the likes of C.C. Sabathia the Yanks could easily put a damper on the Phillies repeat aspirations. Until we meet again may your betting be better and remember to always be a good sport.

The Major League Baseball season is winding down but not without a bang. The battle for both the American and National League Pennant is about to commence and the cool October breeze is starting to heat up like a sizzling hot summer day.

The divisional series are over and 3 of the 4 teams left swept their opponents in 3 games. The New York Yankees silenced the Minnesota Twins before they could even start thinking about what it would be like to play in the World Series. The Yankees have a long tradition of winning world championships. From the days of Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle and Reggie Jackson to the present day Jeter, Rodriguez and Pettite this team resignates tradition. The last time the Yankees won the World Series was in 2000. The money line of -167 says they will win it again this year.

For the latest playoff odds check Baseball betting

The Los Angeles Angels ran over the Boston Red Sox in 3 games and left them muttering “what the heck happened?” You could have easily pictured a Yankee-Red Sox ALCS face off but the Angels had other ideals. Although the odds are the Angels will fall to the mighty Yankees they may just have something to say about that as well.

The Los Angeles Dodgers stunned the St. Louis Cardinals in 3 games to return to the NLCS for the second year in a row. To make it even sweeter they will get another crack at their opponents from last year the Philadelphia Phillies who went on to win last years World Series. For Joe Torre, Manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, there is something else that could sweeten the pie. If they can beat the Phillies in the NLCS they could very likely meet the Yankees in the World Series. The last Manager to win a World Series for the Yankees was the one and only Joe Torre.

For the latest playoff odds check Baseball betting

The only team not to sweep their divisional series was the Philadelphia Phillies but they did eliminate the Colorado Rockies in 4 games. You would think that the Phillies would be favored after winning the World Series last year but the Dodgers are picked to win with the money line being -110. The Phillies would like nothing better than a chance of winning 2 World Series in a row.

The odds are supporting a Los Angeles Dodger/New York Yankee World Series matchup. Joe Torre managed the Yankees from 1996-2007 and won 10 divisional championships and 6 AL pennants and 4 world series. He took over the reigns of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2008. A world series win over the New York Yankees could only add more luster to the amazing career of the 5th winningingest coach in baseball history. Until we meet again may your betting be better and remember to always be a good sport.

In the world of Golf Tiger Woods takes a two stroke lead into the final round of the PGA Championship. Tiger has never lost a major when he has lead going into the final round. There are two other golfers tied for second. One of those is Padraig Harrington and he is breathing down Tiger’s neck pretty hard. So it would appear that this one is Tiger’s to lose. The odds are heavily in his favor at this point. Tiger, even playing on a course that was pounded with rain overnight, is in a good position to win another PGA Championship and his first major of the year.

The NFL Preseason is well under way. It is hard to make anything out of the preseason though. Some coaches really try to win those games just to pump their team up and get them ready for the real season. Other coaches use it for what it was created to watch their players and see how they are going to perform in real time and contact. In the rematch of the Super Bowl from last season the Steelers beat the Cardinals 20-10. Pittsburgh is under a lot of pressure since they won their 6th Super Bowl last year. The last time they won the Super Bowl in 2005 they finished 8-8 the next season. They don’t want to repeat the same process this season. Most of the Super Bowl team is still in tact and the Steelers will be in the thick of things again this year.

Tom Brady is back after his injury and started the Patriots preseason game against Philadelphia. He threw a couple touchdowns and an interception and the Patriots squeaked out a victory. New England will be in the thick of things as well. Michael Vick signed a two year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles and is in his first NFL practice since he left the Atlanta Falcons to serve a prison sentence for dog fighting issues. Having Michael Vick in Philly won’t make their QB Donovan McNabb very happy. There were other teams where Michael Vick may have been more beneficial but it is what it is.

In Major League Baseball the New York Yankee’s have won 12 out of their last 13 games and are really making a run of it. Some of the division races are really beginning to narrow and there should be some tight finishes. Some of these pennant races are going to come right down to the wire.

Look for Tiger Woods to win the PGA Championship today and for the Yankee’s to continue their rampage in baseball. Monday night the Carolina Panthers play the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. Once again it is a preseason game but it should still be fun to watch. Until we meet again may your betting be better and remember to always be a good sport.

In the American League East the New York Yankees continue to lead the Boston Red Sox by 2.5 games. There are still over 50 games to be played. These two teams will battle it out right down to the end of the season. Although the Red Sox have not played well against the West they have did very well in their own division. In the end the Red Sox will take home another pennant. The Detroit Tigers still lead the American League Central by 2.0 games over the Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins. However, this division is very much up for grabs. It will come down too who has the depth to last down the stretch. I believe the Tigers will find a way to hold on and win a pennant.

The Los Angeles Angels lead the American League West by 2.0 games over the Texas Rangers. Although this division may appear to be up for grabs the Angels will win it hands down. The Rangers will fall to the wayside. Of course there are 50 games to play and anything can happen in sports. There may be a few surprises left before the season is over. After the dog days of August the view may have changed.

In the National League East the defending World Champion Philedelphia Phillies are leading the Florida Marlins by 7.0 games. The Phillies, barring any major injuries, will hold on to this pennant and make a run at a second championship. The National League Central is really up for grabs. The St Louis Cardinals lead the Chicago Cubs by a 0.5 game margin with the Houston Astros only 2.5 games back. The Cardinals have been the team to beat in the central division for a long time. This year that may change. But then it may not. The Cardinals will edge this division out once again.

In the National League West the Los Angeles Dodgers lead the Colorado Rockies by 8.0 games. Hands down the Dodgers will win the West and I believe they will face the Phillies in the National League Championship. Of course there could be a surprise in the National League as well. We will be following it closely. Until we meet again may your betting be profitable and remember to always be a good sport.
