The NFL-AFC Expectations For 2010
The NFL preseason will kick off on August 8th when the Cincinnati Bengals take on the Dallas Cowboys in the Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio. For all of those die hard football fans your 6 month separation from the game you love is almost over. Expectations are high for the 2010 season, but who has the best chance of living up to them?
As usual the experts are looking for the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens, and San Diego Chargers to shine in the AFC. I have a beef with that. Dreamers need to give it up. The Patriots are not the team they once were. They had their run. The New York Jets will win the AFC East. The Colts may very well win the AFC South but those who pick the Ravens to win the AFC North every year will be surprised again.
They did not win it two years ago, they did not win it last year, and they won’t win it this year. The Pittsburgh Steelers are always the under dogs. The experts never jump on the band wagon until they have nearly clinched the division. Just because Big Ben is out for at least 4 games does not mean they are finished. The Steelers will run the ball more and the defense will man up. Look for the Steelers to surprise that division again as it has done many times.
In the AFC West the San Diego Chargers have no competition so they should prevail. The most competitive division will be the AFC North. New draft picks Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy will not help their AFC Teams this year. In my next entry we will discuss the NFC. Until we meet again; may your betting be better and remember to always be a good sport.
