NFL Wild Card Playoffs Picks For January 3, 2015

The NFL Playoffs are finally here. It is Wild Card Weekend and there are some good games on tap for NFL fans every where. This is how I see tonight's 2 games playing out:

Arizona Cardinals (11-5) @ Carolina Panthers (7-8-1)

The Arizona Cardinals travel to Charlotte, NC to take on the Carolina Panthers who won the NFC South with a losing record this season. The Cardinals have the NFL's 5th ranked scoring defense allowing 18.7 per game, but their offense is ranked 24th in scoring putting up only 19.4 per game. The Cardinals are relying on their 3rd string QB to take them to the promised land.

The Panthers have the 21st ranked defense allowing 23.4 points per game. They are ranked 19th offensively scoring 21.2 per game. The edge in this game goes to Carolina because they average 127.1 yards per game on the ground and the Arizona defense gives up 112 per game. If QB Cam Newton plays a steady game for the Panthers they should win this one. The Panthers are favored by 6.

Baltimore Ravens (10-6) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (11-5)

The Baltimore Ravens travel to familiar territory tonight as they visit Heinz Field in Pittsburgh to take on the AFC North Champion Pittsburgh Steelers. The Ravens have the 6th ranked scoring defense in the NFL allowing 18.9 points per game. Their offense is ranked 8th scoring 25.6. Their defense only gives up 88 rushing yards per game and they have averaged 126 yards on the ground on offense.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were picked by very few to make the playoffs this year let alone win the division. However, they pulled some shock and awe and took home the AFC North Crown. Their defense is ranked 18th allowing 23 points per game, but their offense is ranked 7th and puts up 27.3. The Steelers rush for over 109.5 per game and only give up 99.8 on the ground. The Steelers are favored by 3 in this heated rivalry. I like the Steelers at home even without their star running back.

Final Word

Both of these games should be very interesting. Quarterback play will be very important in these games. Teams will have to reach down deep and pull out something special. Only 2 of these teams can move onto the Divisional Playoffs next week. It will come down to who can execute and who wants it more. Until we meet again may your betting be better and remember to always be a good sport.
