The 2014 NBA Playoffs tip off tomorrow on Saturday April 19th. It has been 6 long months since the season begun. The 82 games have been played and now the playoff matchups are set in stone. Let's look at this weekends matchups.

Eastern Conference - Game 1

Nadal, Djokovic & Federer Still in the Hunt at Monte Carlo Masters

Rafael Nadal is the #1 player in the tennis world and he loves playing on clay courts. He enjoys it so much he has won 29 matches in a row on clay. The match did not begin the way Nadal would have liked, but the Spaniard fought back and finished Russian Teymuraz Gabashvili 64, 6-1.

Nadal will now forge onward to the 3rd round where he will contend with Adreas Seppi of Italy. Nadal, the King of the French Open with 8 Championships, is still the player to beat on clay.

Bubba Watson Wins 2nd Masters in 3 Years!

The 2014 Masters at the Augusta National is over. Gerry Lester "Bubba" Watson, one of the rare lefties in the PGA, held onto his lead throughout to win his 2nd green jacket in 3 years.

Watson became only the 17th player in the history of the PGA to win multiple Masters Championships. It was a proud moment, but he took it all in stride. He claimed that luck had come into play in his 2012 Masters victory, but that this one took pure dedication and hard work to see it through.

The Augusta National said good-bye to some of the PGA's biggest names at the end of Round 2. The biggest name in the group is perhaps ole lefty himself, Phil Mickelson. Phil did not make the Masters cut and it was the first time since 1997. His triple bogey on two of his holes sealed his fate. He did not depart the Augusta National alone.

The Florida Gators have made it to the Final 8 three years in a row only to be knocked out. This year they have made it to the Final 4 with their sights on a National Championship.

This year in the Final 8 they did not face Michigan, Butler or Louisville, the teams that had put them out in their past 3 Final 8 appearances, but instead they matched up with the Dayton Flyers. The Flyers flew out of nowhere in this tournament to eliminate powerhouses Ohio State, Stanford and Syracuse.

The 2014 Major League Baseball season began on March 22 in Sydney, Australia, with the game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks. 
 
But the North American part of the season will start on March 30 and end on September 28.
 

Djokovic Wins 3rd Indian Wells Title

Novak Djokovic knocked off Roger Federer at the BNP Paribas Open to win his 3rd Indian Wells title. It was a grueling match for the #1 tennis pro in the world. Federer, who has won 4 Indian Wells title of his own, had played with heart and intensity throughout this California classic.

Federer was fast off the serve in the first match winning 6-3, but Djokovic rebounded and won the 2nd round 6-3. In the final set both players displayed why they are among the best players in the world. It was a hard fought match, but Djokovic came out victorious with a 7-6 win.
