Djokovic Wins 3rd Indian Wells Title

Novak Djokovic knocked off Roger Federer at the BNP Paribas Open to win his 3rd Indian Wells title. It was a grueling match for the #1 tennis pro in the world. Federer, who has won 4 Indian Wells title of his own, had played with heart and intensity throughout this California classic.

Federer was fast off the serve in the first match winning 6-3, but Djokovic rebounded and won the 2nd round 6-3. In the final set both players displayed why they are among the best players in the world. It was a hard fought match, but Djokovic came out victorious with a 7-6 win.

Rafael Nadal surprisingly fell to Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-3, 3-6, 7-6. Nadal had beaten Dolgopolov only last month at Rio in the finals, but it was not to be today. Dolgopolov will move onto take on Fabio Fognini who toppled Gael; Monfils 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.

2014 Indian Wells ATP Masters Update

Novak Djokovic is the #2 ranked tennis player in the world. He entered the Indian Wells ATP Masters as the #2 seed. He has won this event 2 times. He defeated Victor Hanescu yesterday 7-6, 6-2. For many there would be a feeling of accomplishment after such a sound win and a path to the 3rd round, but Djokovic made it known there was still things he needed to improve upon.

Djokovic won at Indian Wells most recently in 2011. He also won in 2008. He moves onward to the 3rd round to face Alejandro Gonzalez. Gonzalez won a hard fought victory over Ivan Dodig 6-4, 2-6, 7-6.

Tiger Withdraws, McIlroy Falters, and Henley Wins Honda Classic in Sudden Death

Yesterday, Russell Henley came out of nowhere to win the 2014 Honda Classic. It took a putt in sudden death overtime for Henley to take home his first tour victory. Going into Sunday it was Rory McIlroy who had a 2 stroke lead, but he could not hold on, and faltered down the stretch, finishing with a 74 for the day. The good thing is that even though McIlroy had a rough time on the course yesterday; he didn't exit the tournament early like he did last year.
